Save 25% forever!

Happy New Year! In honor of 2025, I’m offering you a ✨lifetime✨ 25% savings when you upgrade to a supporting subscriber.

Why subscribe? There’s all kinds of goodies for supporting subscribers, and your contribution will help take Career River from a framework to a movement. For $3.75 a month (even less if you opt for an annual subscription), you can become a Career River Supporter to move this work forward.

As always, if you aren’t currently being paid, you don’t have to pay for access. Contact me at exploreyourriver@gmail.com to get set up with a comp subscription.

What your support makes possible

I started Career River because I believe we deserve a more flexible and supportive model for our professional lives. Until I boomeranged last summer, this was entirely a passion project. Most of my posts were tapped out on my phone while my baby daughter snoozed in my lap. Now I get to dedicate 10% of my working hours to developing these ideas further.

Right now, that means I have capacity to produce this newsletter, give some presentations and make progress, inch by inch, on a career river book. (To be honest I’m mostly working on the book 20 minutes at a time after the kids are in bed.) And while that’s great, I want more.

I want to hire a diverse slate of freelance contributors to bring their own perspectives on navigating to fulfillment to these posts. I want to create accessible, compelling graphics to make it easier to apply Career River thinking to your journey. And I want more people to learn about this alternative to the extractive pressure of climbing a ladder.

I’m not kidding when I say your support can help take Career River from a framework to a movement.

The more people we get interested in this idea, the better chance we have of creating a future where professional fulfillment is not limited to where we sit on an org chart, but how we contribute to a thriving ecosystem.

What supporters get

When you upgrade, you’ll get access to the offerings I’ve been developing and refining to help you navigate your own career journey. In addition to weekly posts, this includes:

  • The Map Your Career River worksheet, to identify throughlines in your career and reframe your experiences to discover what could be next. This download will arrive immediately after you upgrade.

  • Joining our monthly Navigator Q&As. These conversations are inspirational, actionable and revelatory. Every month I chat with someone who has tackled a career challenge and come out the other side, sharing their hard-won insights. Supporting subscribers can directly ask our guests your questions about career transitions, either submitting ahead of our chat or live on a webinar.

Later this month, we’ll be talking with Marita Pérez Díaz about, as she put it, “leaping over the waterfall” when moving from journalism to tech.

Then in February we’re meeting the man behind McCafé, former McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing Officer Neil Golden. He’ll share the principles he used when he left McD’s to make his next career move, which turned out to be different than he expected.

And in March, Ken Schneck of The Buckeye Flame will offer his incredible insights into telling your career story. He should know, as he left behind academia to found the nonprofit newsroom. I saw him in action recently and trust me when I say he’s one of the most engaging, entertaining and passionate speakers you’ll have the pleasure of watching.

I hope you’ll take advantage of this special offer and help build Career River this year. Thank you!

Happy navigating,
Bridget
